Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

JDR would not take Jurisdiction.....now I owe too much money....

I live in Spotsylvania Va. The JDR court will not take jurisdiction of my petition to lower my Child Support, This Court case has been going on for the last year and has been remanded back to JDR 6 times as of yesterday, and this coming Monday I might go to Jail because of it. I am not physically been able work as I once did have been diagnosed haveing Degenerating Back Disease and my spine is shrinking and the doctor said that I will be in a wheel chair by the end of the year, I am bearly working.

I need advice quickly

You say the J&DRDC will not take jurisdiction of your petition to reduce your child support, but it

would appear that if the case has been remanded to this court, the court has jurisdiction but may be denying your petition for a hearing on your request for a reduction, for whatever reason.

(The denial, if that's what has occurred, is appealable to the circuit court.)

If your're scheduled for a hearing (presumably to show cause why you should not be found in contempt)on Monday, about all you can do now is show up at the appointed time and explain your situation to the judge and reiterate your request to have a hearing on your request to have your obligation lowered to an amount commensurate with your current circumstances.
