Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

How long can a birth father overturn an adoption?

A woman I dated became pregnant and she put the baby up for adoption in Virginia. She was not sure if I was the father or if the other man she was seeing was. She chose to have the other man stand up to give consent because she knew I did not want the baby put up for adoption if it was mine. I never stood up and did anything (except threaten)even though I knew there was a chance the baby was mine. The baby is a year and a half old now and the adoption has been final for sometime. I've seen pictures of the baby and I think it looks just like me. Do I have any rights now at this late date, to try and get a paternity test and get the child back if it is mine?

You have, I believe, six months from the time the

final order of adoption is entered to raise issues as to why it should not become final.

After that period has expired, no one is allowed to step in and "stir the pot" so to speak, with

matters that could well traumatize the child.
