Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I moved to Texas prior to giving birth to my child (never married). The father still lives in Virgina. Do i need to go to Virginia to establish paternity and child support? If I set court in Virginia, will the visitation/custody terms be set in Virginia or Texas? Can he obtain an order for me to keep the child in Virginia?

Yes, you could go to Virginia to achieve these objectives, but it

would be cheaper (not to mention easier)for you to arrange for an appointment with the Texas State Child Support Enforcement Agency to see about executing an assignment of your rights to allow them to handle it for you(working with their sister Virginia agency known as the Division of Child Support Enforcement ).
