Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Paternity

In 1982 an illigitimate daughter was born to my ex-girlfreind which was mine, her current husband at that time was placed on the certificate of birth. In the 19yrs to follow my daughter has always been in search of her real father as it was never hidden from her.. She located me at last which I do not deny her. Now the previous name on the certificate has been removed and a letter sent to me to acknowledge paternity..My daughter is married and has a child of her own as does her mother, What if any legal action can be taken against me if I sign these papers by either party?

Re: Paternity

After you receive a release from liability for child support which should have been due and owing

for all those years from your daughter and her mother--and any other parties with a legitimate interest--then you can sign the acknowlegment of paternity with some reasonable assurance that

you'll be scott free from having to pay.
