Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Question: Does my daughters' mother (who resides in Virginia) (we never married) have a right to child support for our daughter if my daughter lived/lives and attends public school outside of Virginia (in New Jersey)? My daughters mother wants child support and my daughter doesn't even live in the state with her. Please help. What law can I refer to the judge when I go to court?? Thank you.
