Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

responsibility for legal bill

My wife is executor of a friend's estate. The friend died in North Carolina. My wife hired a lawyer in NC for turnkey executor work. Is my wife or the estate responsible for the legal bill?

There is a truck in the estate. The loan on the truck is more than it can be sold for. The friend's mother is the will beneficiary. Is the mother responsible for the outstanding loan balance?
