Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

What should I do with the ring?

My exfiance and I just broke our engagement in the state of Virginia. He broke the engagement and asked for the ring back. I refused as I need to recoup thousands of dollars I have lost so far in deposits etc for our wedding preparations. He is threatening to take legal action. Does he have a case?

Re: What should I do with the ring?

Well, let him "take legal action" and let the court make the determination as to whether he has a case, after he has explained to the judge the relevant details as to why he broke off the engagement after he gave you the ring as a token of his commitment and perduring love.
