Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

signing over parental rights in the state of virginia

I have a biracial child who is 1 years old. His father gives me money on a monthly bases without any kind of CS order. My mother HATES my son's father and keeps pressuring him and I to have him sign his rights over......but is that even possible without having someone to sign his rights over to?
