About taking baby to another state

I am single mother and I live in Virginia. I have never been married to the father of the baby. Now I want to move to Florida with baby and I would like to know if I need the approval from the father of the baby or I can do it when I want without asking? Thank you.

No, in the absence of a valid court order requiring otherwise, you need noone's permission to depart the state with the baby (including the baby's father), which in no way implies that this is necessarily a good idea or something which you should do.
