When you are taking fmla from your job, can they start the 12 weeks while you are still taking your earned time, ex: vac, and sick leave, or does the 12 weeks begin under unpaid time.

Unpaid; your employer, however, can require that the employee first use any
accumulated paid personal leave time before starting unpaid FMLA
leave time.
