Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

harassment

Our neighbor has been complaining about our dog as well as that of another neighbor. She has made several calls to Animal Control, which all resulted in a finding of no valid complaint. She has also called the sheriff's office and HOA board with similar results. Her husband threatened my husband's job over this nonsense, while she also called other neighbors asking for our personal work information. She has been photographing and videotaping us for about 4 months and recently photographed our child playing in the yard with the dog. When my husband asked her not to photograph our son, she responded by calling the sheriff's office again. Our children are afraid to go outside or upstairs if it is dark. This is ridiculous but scary. We have talked to every neighbor on our half of the block and no one seems to agree with her version of the story. What can we do?

Re: harassment

Not much, legally speaking, from the facts described(in my opinion). (And, I can think of nothing that would prevent this woman from taking pictures of your son "playing in the yard with the dog".)

The law does not necessarily hold a remedy for all that ails mankind.
