Joy Riding Teen Crashes Car

My son 16Yrs old, who has only a driving permit was at a sleepover and he and another kid 14Yrs old took the car belonging to their friends parents for a joy ride.The two took turns driving the 14yr old crashed the car nobody was hurt. the car was totaled..the repairs are more than the car is worth. the culpeper co. police came were call to the scene and since the accident happened on private property no tickets were issued at all. what are my legal responsibilities and what action can be done against my son by the owner of the car?

I think you should have an attorney look at this.

On the one hand, your son was not driving the car

and is not directly responsible for the wreck.

On the other hand, a court could decide that

the two boys were invlved together and hold them

jointly and severally liable (meaning either or

both must pay).
