Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Liability for Engagement Ring

I agreed to open a jewelry store credit account on behalf of my fiance' so he could purchase my engagement ring. (He had prior credit problems so he couldn't get the interest free credit.) He agreed to make the monthly payments. A month before our wedding he backed out. I'm now stuck with a balance of several thousand dollars. Do I have any recourse to recover any portion of the cost of the ring from my former fiance'? I have nothing in writing other than evidence that he had been fitted for a tux.

Re: Liability for Engagement Ring

Based upon these facts, it looks to me like you're the owner of this engagement ring with a balance still owed of several thousand dollars, (and very likely without viable recourse against your reneging fiance).
