Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

pending suit

A good friend of mine purchased a house in 1989, solely for her and her son to occupy. She let an ex-boyfriend move in with them a month later. She willed the house to her sone. he lived there until 2005 . During that time she was in three other relationships, engaged three times and married to one for four years from 2000 to 2005. Long story short, the roomate was abusive and controlling, so during the times she was ''envolved'' with these other guys she would live with them at their residence. while all her belonging were still at here house. She came back in 2005 and he started again so she refinanced the house then sold it. NOW, the roomate is sueing her for 200K cuz he says they had an ''verbal agreement'' that he would get half the equity in the house if she ever sold it...(BS !!!) SO, he filed a suit for Breach of contract, fraud and conversion of assets.... she sold the house in Feb 2005 and he never made any payments after she left and it went into forclosure...he was evicted nine months later.... so now he comes back two years later and sues her for damages. NOW, they filed for a ''leave to amend'' their complain she now lives in Texas and the suit is in VA...and she [cannot] afford an attorney, any help will be appreciated
