What kind of suit? Personal injury: generally 2 years; assault/battery/libel/slander: 1 year; breach of contract: oral 3 years; written 5 years, and so on. There are a lot of variations, so the specific facts and nature of the claim have to be looked at to determine what statute of limitations applies.
