how can someone who came to america for a visit become a resinent?

Technically, if the person originally came legally and can prove the legal entry, he/she could adjust status if he/she has a qualifying petitioner who can submit an petition on his/her behalf (for example, US Citizen or Permanent Resident parent, spouse, etc.) Feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
