Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Change of Schedule x out Notice

My boss recently changed my schedule for the next day, which I originally had off. She said I had no choice but to work if I liked my job. I was asking if there is a mandatory time an employer must give to an employee when a schedule is changed before they are REQUIRED to work. I work at a Nursing Home 40 hours a week but I am still considered part time. I feel like they are taking advantage of me and look to me to solve their scheduling problems by requiring me to work on no notice when other employees call in sick.

Unless you have an employment contract requiring notification of a change of schedule, you are at the mercy of your employer's last minute change.
