Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I was diacharged from a small nonprofit. I was provided with a severance agreement. I have emailed reguarding my PTO time to be paid out, as it is nit stated in the severance agreement. I eas verbally told that my PTO would be paid. I emailed requesting that thisnbe added to the agreement. There is no formal HR department and the CEO handles it. They have had lawsuits during the time that I worked there. I was handed the agreement signed by the CEO with 21 days to return (calendar nor business days were indicated). If I do not receive a respose regarding admended section can I track changes in signed document and return with my signature and hope my PTO gets paid? Can anything be changed if CEO is out of office until after 21 day period?

If the issue of your paid PTO is still nowhere referenced in your written severance

agreement, this company probably has no intention whatsoever of paying it.
