Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

My employer is trying everything in their power to force me to resign my possiton. It is to the point where upper management has told my co-workers and immediate supervisor to "make him quit so we dont have to pay unemployment benefits". I do perform better then most people in my possition and this has all started happening after I started the application process for a public service career. Are there any laws being broken here? Could this be translated to hostile work enviroment?

No, probably not, if there are no sexual harassment components allegedly involved in your claim (in my opinion).
