Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I was terminated from my job recently. I was called in and told that the federal government customer did not want me on the contract any longer. (I am not a fed.) I was told they were dissatisfied with a latest project I completed earlier. No one had mentioned that there was a problem, and I had just had an excellent review and raise. I did not realize that I was terminated/fired until my unemployment claim was initially rejected. I am working on resolving this issue and I've also contacted the Inspector General at the department where I worked.

I am applying for a public trust clearance at Department of Justice. Since I now know I was fired, I'm not sure what I should put down on the form. Will this affect my chance of getting the clearance?

Tell the truth and not just the fact that you were fired from this recent project position but also

include the fact of your recent excellent review and (apparent) consequent raise and that you

are working to resolve the issue which may have led to your termination and that you have

also contacted the appropriate Inspector General for assistance in this matter.
