Unclaimed Property
I received a check for unclaimed property for more that 5,000 dollars and want to make sure that it is legally mine, even if I dont have that tax returns to prove it. I just dont want to be caught in an audit later and pay thousands of dollars in fees.

Without additional relevant facts as to the legitimacy of your claim to this allegedly unclaimed property, I see no way of providing a satisfactory answer to this question.
