Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

Good Morning

I live in an apartment complex and I want to know can the landlord allow a law enforcement agency use their security system to monitor when I come and go out of my aprtment. Every time I leave to get to my elevator the people are there waiting. Yes I know who they are because they follow me in every where I go. I have called the police on them and I was told as long as they are in a certain space for me there is nothing I can do. This is my aprtment where I live and I think this is violating my privacy.

I am in the Army and I was under investigation and the Criminal Investigation Division did not like the out come of the investigation so they are followiing me around to try to intimidate me and I welcome them but not in my home where I live. Please let me know if my rights are being violated.

Yes, the landlord/property management company can allow such use of the complex's security system in the manner described(in my opinion). However, as a tenant/resident, you could certainly make your displeasure known to those in charge in the form of a letter of protest and request that the practice cease and desist immediately.
