Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

My new landlady renting rooms out via Craigslist, she's requiring first, last, and security deposit, but she's only a tenant and the owner/landlord knows nothing about her subletting.

After collecting the Cash for the first, last and deposit, the tenant moves in, days later the landlady accuses them of being a spy for her estranged husband. Within a week or two with relentless threats from the landlady and only a chicken scratch lease agreement All previous tenants have moved out breaking their lease.

Now it's my turn, I'm on my third week and she is just nonstop with the accusations, fabricating issues, anything that she thinks will get me to move out. If I break Her lease with me, she can still demand more rent, If I stay it will be just a very miserable environment.

It's a very nice house that obviously only her Ex. can afford, the power was shut off the fist week, the gas was shut off last week and we don't have any hot water now. It's clear she doesn't have any money but I really don't like getting ripped off from anyone especially from someone who planned this in advance.

Why not report all this to the owner/landlord of this property and put an end to her nonsense?
