Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I recently moved into an apt with very thin walls. My neighbor above me continuously complains about my noise, but I am not making a lot of noise. They have called security and the police on us for noise. I am not the type of person to complain but I have to listen to their stomping, slamming doors and playing loud music at all hours of the night. I have tried to call security but they told me there was nothing that i could do because when they came they could not hear the noise outside of their apt door. I have never received complaints before in all the years that I have lived in an apt. My neighbor even came banging on my door and yelled at me because of my television. I did not even have my television turned up. I feel that I am being harassed. How do I handle this situation?

Ask the landlord to allow you to move to another (quieter) unit-----well

removed from these noisy neighbors. (Separation is usually the only real

solution to this kind of problem.)
