Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

My roommate threatened me and made my living conditions uncomfortable, I moved out of the apartment and she wants to break the lease resulting in me paying to leave. I do not feel as though I should pay to leave when she basically forced me out. She also has a personal lock on her bedroom door where she is holding a cable box and internet router that are in my name so that I cannot turn them back in and will be charged for. What should I do?

Until something actually happens in regard to your possible liability under the lease, I would do nothing other than to file a warrant in detinue in the local general district court for the return of your items of personal property (in the event your former roommate continues to

refuse to return them to you).
