Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Virginia

Should RN's carry malpractice insurance? My co-workers say they don't carry it because the hospital will cover you and that carrying insurance makes you an easy target to be sued.

If you're an employee of the hospital, its insurance should cover you sufficiently.

However, if you're an independent contractor, contracting for work with

different hospitals, then it may well be necessary, depending upon what your

agreement covers with these hospitals.
