Legal Question in Military Law in Virginia

Enlisted-ROTC cadet

I am Enlisted, my beau is Civilian. He is considering becoming an Army chaplain. He has 2 years of college. He could get a 2 year ROTC scholarship and be in the Education Delay program that postpones his service obligations until he has completed seminary. I do not know yet if he will decide this is right for him.

Meanwhile, I have a little over one year remaining in my enlistment contract of 4 years. I'd already planned to reenlist for another four years.

Would it be unlawful for us to marry once he is accepted in the ROTC program?

Also, is there a chapter option for enlisted personnel whose spouses become commisioned officers after the marriage?

Re: Enlisted-ROTC cadet

Unlawful? No. Whether it might contravene the rules and regulations which bind ROTC candidates is another question for which you

should seek an answer from the folks who are in charge of the ROTC program in which your intended may seek to enlist.
