Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

Injury in establishment

My Husband and I were at a restuarant/bar when he was hit from behind, knock out and beaten due to an extended family vendetta. He was taken to the hospital, after I called 911 from the sidewalk and was diagnosed with a severe concussion. The police in our area said the owners of the restuarant are covering up the incident and they could not get names. No charges have been filed, and the owners are threatening us with slander to our employers if we file charges. What are our options? Thanks.

Re: Injury in establishment

If the police could not identify the alleged perpetrators, whom would you be filing charges against?
