Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

Power of Attorney and Information and Release Form

I was given a Power of Attorney form to sign that I am afraid to sign and send on because in the past this attorney has not kept me informed of what is going on in my case. I want to know if I do not sign this will it affect my case at all. I am also afaid to sign the information and release form stating that any information including that which is covered by the Federal or State Privacy or Freedom of Information Acts. If you have a case pending in a personal injury case or product liability case it this standard procedure and can I add a claus to this to be kept up to date on the proceedings so that I have no idea what this individual is voting on in my behalf? I know this is all vague and I hope that I can get an answer with this in mind.

Re: Power of Attorney and Information and Release Form

I am not clear what type of power of atty form you are talking about but I don't think you should sign it, particularly if the atty has not communicated well in the past.I can tell you that this is not standard procedure but I would need to actually see the power of atty form to see what it is you are giving him power to do. If you like, you can email me the text. This is not legal advice but I am curious as to what the atty is asking you to sign.
