Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

Recently there was some malicious allegations made against me and my nursing license. The sources of the claims made it known to others that they were planning this attack after becoming upset with me. The allegations included abuse, sex and thefts from a 93 year old gentleman I was taking care of. The claims were investigated by the board of nursing and the case is now closed with no action having been taken against me. The board determined there was no evidence to support the claims. These allegations were serious enough to cause me to lose my license and career and possibly face criminal charges. Can I sue them?

Yes, if all that you claim is in fact true, you would appear to have a

credible claim for defamation per se under applicable Virginia law (in my opinion).
