Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

sexual abuse by teacher

Can I sue the school system where the teacher that sexually abused me worked? Who is liable for the teacher's actions besides the teacher? The teacher has been convicted and sentenced to 4 years in prison. The crime took place 10 years ago but the trial was within the last year. thanks.

I would encourage you to definitely pursue it, except that 10 years is probably too long ago. You may have a problem in terms of the statute of limitations.

You can sue the school system, the question is whether the system would be liable for damages. A primary question will be whether the school system knew or should have known that the teacher might commit such an act when hiring him/her. You should consult an attorney concerning your options.
