Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

We need to evict our adult son. He has been living with us for 3 years, pays no rent. He has recently relapsed (recovering addict) and we no longer want him in our house. We live in Prince William County VA.

You will very likely have to go through the same legal procedures which any Prince William

County landlord would have to follow in evicting a tenant who is (allegedly) in

violation of the terms of his or her lease.

Go to the clerk's office of the Prince William County General District Court

(civil division) and they will be able to provide you with the paperwork for you to fill out

to get the matter set for an initial hearing on the court's docket. (The action for

eviction is initiated through filing what the law refers to as a Warrant for Unlawful Detainer.)
