Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Reclaim stored property

I had verbal agreement to store a car at man's private residnece,we did not agree on an amount of time it was going to stay there it has been there for 11 months. Each time I tried to go pick it up he had excuse. Now he will not let me on to his land to pick it up. I have the title to the vehicle and it is worth about 1000.00 dollars. What legal rights do I have to collect my car.

Re: Reclaim stored property

Go talk to the clerk in the general district court

in the city or county where your property is located. Tell her you want to file a "Warrant in Detinue" to recover your property(or in the alternative damages for its fair market value). She(or he) may even be amenable to helping you fill out the necessary paperwork.
