Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

rented and our property was not ready in time, can we break our lease?

A group of 4 students rented a house and signed a lease saying that it would be ready by july 2002. It is november 6th and we are still not in the house. The property managment company agreed to let us rent apartments from them until our house was finished. We are only paying for the apartments right now but do not want to deal with the property company anymore. Can we break the lease for our house because they did not finish on time?

It's unclear whether there's been a breach on the part of the landlord sufficently serious to justify your withdrawal from the lease.

You should consult with an attorney to allow

him or her to determine and to advise what your best course of action may be.
