Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

sold me a lemon

I got an ''as is'' car from a dealership and I financed. I live about an hour from the dealership, my car didnt even make it 20 mins until it started to run funny. I made it closer to my house about 20 mins away and I had to get it towed to my house. I called the sales man on his cell phone on saturday (when I bought the car) and he said they would tow it today, but when we called them, they told us they would fix it but I'd have to tow it. I tried to talk to the owner but they gave me the run around, plus the car doesnt have an inspection sticker on it... I know about getting a lemon from a private owner, but i thought a dealer was suppose to fix the car before they sold it, even as is...? There was NO transmission oil in the car, the spark plugs are broke, the belt is wrong the tires are backwards..... I know this is part my fault, but is this legal?

Re: sold me a lemon

Yes, unfortunately, very likely so, if the vehicle was sold to you "AS IS"(and without warranty of any kind) by this used car dealer, unless you were fraudulently induced by this dealer into the purchase by clear misrepresentations or falsifications as to the condition of the vehicle.

Your first step should probably involve getting this

lemony vehicle towed back to the dealer to see if there's any chance that some "lemonade" can possibly be churned from this apparently sour deal.
