In the State of Virginia can a police officer enter your back yard to inspect covered vehicles for current inspection sticker

Today we had police driving up and down our street for vehicles that didnt have inspection stickers and we had one truck parked in the front that didnt and they put an 24hr citation. I understand that, but they went as far as saying they were going to come back in 2weeks and go into the back yard because we dont have a 6ft privacy gate, but the cars are covered

without a valid warrant would appear to be violative of your rights

safeguarded under the U.S. Constitution as well as applicable state law.
