Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

stolen property

A child 16 years old borrowed my sons motorcycle valued at $2200.00. He left it parked on the side of the road and it was stolen. Does his parents have any responsibility to pay us for the property?

Re: stolen property

Generally, parents are responsible only for what are termed the willful and deliberate torts (civil wrongs) committed by their minor children.

What you've described sounds more like simple negligence for which the parents could not be held responsible.
