Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

I won a judgement versus a tenant a year ago in Virginia but she skipped out and never paid. I know her address now in Maryland. Do I file a warrant in debt in the county where I won the judgement? Or in the county where she currently resides?

If you "won a judgment" in Virginia, you don't need to file another warrant in debt but

rather should be enforcing this judgment against assets which your judgment debtor has either in

Virginia or Maryland.

If you cannot locate any such assets, i.e., wages or bank accounts, then you could

consider filing a motion with the Virginia court to issue a request for interrogatories against the

debtor in Maryland, but you will need to go through the Secretary of the Commonwealth to effect service

of process on the out of state debtor with the required paperwork from the court
