charged with trespassing and code 18.2-324 in virginia. do i need a lawyer for court and what is the conviction for this??

The referenced charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor offense which upon conviction
carries a possible penalty of up to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to
$2500, either or both.
