Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

New reckless driving law

I just moved to Virginia and unfortunately was picked up for speeding last weekend. I was going 83 in a 65 speed limit area. The officer said I would have to appear in Court and that this constitued reckless driving.

I was actually going the same speed as the rest of the traffic but was the unluckly one that got stopped.

What is my best defense in this situation and what is the worst case scenario? I have two tickets from Ohio over 2 years old and no accidents on my record.

Re: New reckless driving law

Your best defense is the one you've already referenced, i.e., you were merely trying to keep up with the flow of traffic(important for safety considerations) when you were singled out and pulled over by the officer.

Experienced traffic court counsel might be able to get you off with an Improper Driving disposition.
