Average cost to prepare a will

Could anyone please tell me the average cost to prepare a simple will, a Marital share will, an exemption will, and a stated dollar amount will? Thanks.

Re: Average cost to prepare a will

There is no real average. The law firm where I used to work did a lot of standard wills at $650 for a married couple, $500 for a single person. Because I keep my overhead costs low, I will do a standard will for $400. The trouble is, the most important questions are deciding what type of will is best for you, what you want to accomplish, etc. There is also the important question of whether you really should have a trust. A trust is more expensive up-front. But when it comes to the administration of your estate later on, it is actually cheaper. I can set up a fairly standard trust for a flat fee of $1000.
