What are the inheritance rights of children from a first marriage in the Commonwealth of Virginia?

Such children may inherit as firstborns whatever

their parent gives them in his or her will or if such parent dies without a will(intestate), then they will inherit according to the state's scheme of inheritance which is outlined at Va. Code Sec. 64.1-1.(If one natural parent survives the other's demise, the this surviving spouse inherits all; however, if one or more of the children are stepchildren of the surviving spouse, then this spouse takes one third of the estate and the remaining two thirds is divided among the surviving children.
