Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

Obtaining copies of wills

My ex-husband (and father of my teen-aged son) recently received an inheritance when his father passed away. I assume that if my son had been specifically named in the will we would have been contacted. I have reason to believe, though, that possibly a college fund was left for him in his father's care. His father denies that anything was left for my son. How can I obtain a copy of the will?

Re: Obtaining copies of wills

It may take a trip to the county courthouse where the will was probated, but you should, on your son's behalf, be able to look at the probate file and read the will.

You want to see the probate clerk.
