do wills have to be registered or on file with the county after an estate is clo

a family memeber setteled my late aunts estate,i have recently found out that i had a cirtificate of deposit in my name as a minor but i did not get the whole amount. the amount of this cd was was much larger than the check i recieved from my family members personal checking account. Is there anyway I can find a copy of my late aunts estate and is this a law that wills have to be filed.

Wills which have been probated(gone through the court process)are a matter of public record and you should be able to inspect the probate file concerning your aunt's estate by going to the probate division of the circuit court which handled the matter and making inquiry of one of the clerks there as to how to access it.

The executor is required to file a complete inventory reporting every piece of property, down to the penny. And the executor is also supposed to file documentation of where every penny went and where every bit of property went, down to every sock.

Of course most people don't understand their obligations. Therefore, not everything that should be done is actually done. However, the probate court in the County where the decedent last lived is supposed to contain all of this information.
