Legal Question in Workers Comp in Virginia

An injured person & her lawyer do not want us (medical provider) to give any information directly to the insurance carrier or the case manager. they want everything to go through her attorney. I think if this is a workers comp claim the employers' carrier & case manager should have access to this information. Please advise

Virginia Code 65.2-604 dictates your responsibility in this situation. Health care providers in Virginia workers' compensation cases are required to "furnish a copy of any medical report to the injured employee, employer, insurer, or a certified rehabilitation provider..." This statute does not authorize the employer, the insurer or the certified rehabilitation provider to obtain oral reports from health care providers, nor does it permit them to require health care providers to meet with representatives of the employer, insurer or certified rehabilitation provider.
