I was sued in 1993 for a traffic accident for $7000.00, is this an item I can declare bankruptcy on?

In response to your question, yes you can declare this on your bankruptcy petition. However, whether or not it will be discharged is a different question. Dischargeability of a judgement related to a motor vehicle accident depends upon the facts of your accident. Normally, any civil judgment related to motor vehicle accident is dischargeable, unless it was caused while you were under the influence of drug and/or alcohol, or you drove your vehicle in a reckless manner and thereby caused injury to the other party. Under those circumstances the civil judgment would not be discharged.
