Hired someone to paint my house, they. Did a bad job and I don't want to pay. No contract was signed am I liable to pay for their bad work?

Any attorney will ask if the person who painted your house is a licensed contractor. If not, in most states, this invalidates any contract. Check with your state's contractor licensing board. If they are a licensed contractor, you still have a "bad job" defense. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
