Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Washington

CPS Adoption and the ADA

We have an attorney attempting to adopt our nephew, our attorney has had over two months to do something and has done nothing.

we have an adoption petition filed, a favorable Adoption Home Study.

We have a Child Protective Services, that does not want us to have our nephew.

The CPS has violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, we have filed a complaint with the Fed. Dept of Justice, which is still investigating. They have verably stated that CPs they feel that CPS has not only violated the ADA, but violated WAC's in dealing with us.

Should we hire a different Attorney to handle our adoption?

Should we hire another Attorney to handle the civil rights violation--The ADA?

Please any advice will be considered.

Thank You.

Re: CPS Adoption and the ADA

I would suggest that you first discuss the strategy with your attorney before changing attorneys. It sounds like s/he has not outlined their view of the best strategy for handling the obstacles that have arisen in your adoption.

BTW: In some counties, case are on a case schedule. In other counties, an attorney needs to set a case for hearing.
