Legal Question in Consumer Law in Washington

Do insurance agencies have the right to increase rates upon checking credit repo

My insurance on my autos and home increased dramatically. When questioning my insurance agency they refused to give me direct reply to why they had increased my insurance. They took away my multiple discounts and increased all of my autos and properties I have insured with them. I have never had an accident or filed any claims, I am not delinquent in my payments and have had the same insurance for some time in two different states. My spouse is presently living in another state due to a job transfer. He had co-signed on an auto for his son from another marriage, the boy had defaulted many times and after several months the vehicle was a repo. They said this is the reason. I thought the law changed, they can't use C.R.s? His mistake and I pay?

The only way they can do that is if the spousal son is on the same policy as yourself. If he's actually no relation to you, not living in your household and not covered on the same policy, they can't include information about him, any more than they could include your next-door neighbor. If you and your spouse have the same policy either (1) drop the spousal son (which may mean kicking him out of the spousal household) or (2) get insurance by yourself.
