Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

criminal trespass

I recently had a criminal trespass case closed and I was wondering how long it would take to drop off my record? I was also wondering if I should appeal it to the residing judge. This is my first offense and I have not committed any other offenses. But I do not like this on my record for it is disqualifying me for public housing and other things I need in the future.I originally got the charge because I was staying at a renters house and the owner came through and had all living there arrested with no further notice. Please help.

Re: criminal trespass

You have asked a general question without stating whether you were convicted. There are different remedies that apply to charges, convictions, deferred sentences, etc.

You can look at the applicable statutes and court rules - RCW 9.96.060 (vacating conviction), 10.97.060 (deletion of arrest record) and general court rule number 15 (GR 15, sealing of court file) to determine how to proceed.

For specific advice, you should retain an attorney experienced in this area of law to ensure you pursue the appropriate remedies.
